Water Maintenance Worker I Position (Full-time)
The Village of Westmont, Illinois is accepting applications for the position of Full-Time Water Maintenance Worker I.  

The Water Division is one of three divisions in Public Works and is responsible for the installation and repair of the water distribution system in the Village of Westmont and performs the service of machinery and equipment in the water plant.  

This position requires elementary knowledge of vehicles and equipment utilized in public works maintenance and repair operations.  Also, requires elementary knowledge of methods, procedures, tools, and materials used in public works maintenance and repair.

The ideal candidate must be a dedicated individual with integrity and strength of character.  Candidate should also have a track record of positive interaction with employees, supervisors, elected officials and citizens.  Requires High School diploma or equivalent and two years experience in a waterworks municipal system.  Must possess valid Illinois Vehicle Operator’s License (CDL preferred).

Part-time Accounting Specialist - Accounts Receivable
The Village of Westmont, IL (pop. 24,685) Part-time Accounting Specialist - A/R - Finance Department is responsible for a variety of bookkeeping functions including processing bills and invoices, assisting the public at the counter and over the phone, balancing daily deposits, reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, journal preparation and entry, checking for compliance and internal controls, and providing effective communication with internal and external customers.

Applicant must be a dedicated individual with integrity and strength of character.  Requires working knowledge of general accounting principles (municipal experience desirable), fund accounting, computer finance applications (particularly spreadsheets), business English, spelling, and mathematics.  Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, is required.

Starting salary range is $24-$25 (DOQ).  Average weekly hours are 30 hours per week. Desired hours are 10:15 am to 4:15 pm, M-F.

Accountant - Full Time
The Village of Westmont is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Accountant reporting to the Assistant Finance Director.  Responsibilities include:  Journal preparation, entry and discrepancy reconciliation, audit preparation, fixed asset management, assisting the public at the counter and over the phone, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, performing opening and closing tasks of the Business Office, processes a variety of over-the-counter payments, and as needed back-up for Deputy Clerk.  Must be able to work well in a team environment.

Applicants should have knowledge and skill equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field with three to four years of accounting experience; muncipal preferred.  Requires extensive knowledge of spreadsheet applications.  Requires strong analytical skills/experience, consistent attention to detail, exceptional communication qualities, a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Excel, and some proficiency in Google Docs.  CPA a plus, but not required.  For full job description see Job Description: Accountant - Full Time

The Village offers a competitive compensation and benefit package.  Starting salary range is $61,000-$65,000 (DOQ).  Average weekly hours are 40 hours per week.  Desired hours are 7:30 am to 4:00, M-F.

Seasonal Workers - Public Works
The Village of Westmont, IL (pop. 24,685) Seasonal Workers - Public Works are responsible for performing a variety of routine unskilled manual tasks such as cutting grass and weeds, watering plants; assisting with chipping, assisting with repair of manholes, broken concrete and asphalt; general painting need; clean up after completed jobs; and other jobs as assigned.  This position is under the general supervision of a Foreman and/or crew leader.

Applicant must possess good communication skills, must be able to work as a team, and independently. Requires physical strength and agility sufficient to do strenuous laboring tasks under varying weather conditions.  Ability to lift and move 50 pounds or more on a frequent basis.  Frequent and/or prolonged bending, stooping, standing, sitting, pulling, pushing, or reaching.  

Requires education equivalent to a high school diploma.  Demonstrates a working knowledge of hand tools and power tools.   Must possess valid IL Vehicle Operator’s License.  

Starting salary range is $9.50 to $11.00 (DOQ).  Average weekly hours are 40 hours per week.
