For the second year in a row, chefs from Taiwan will travel to Westmont to participate in the annual Taste of Taiwan Sister City food booth during the Taste of Westmont, which will be held in downtown Westmont from July 11-14.

“We really have to give a lot of thanks to our Sister City Ambassador Angela Yang and the entire Sister City Committee for making this happen,” said Mayor Ron Gunter.  “Our Sister City program has been a tremendous success and provides a great opportunity for the people of Westmont to experience the food and culture of Taiwan.”

The Sister City food booth will be serving authentic Taiwanese food on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 12-14 during event hours.  Food booths are located in the Manning School parking lot at 219 N. Cass Avenue, just north of Norfolk Street.

“We have a very busy schedule planned for our chefs coming in from Taiwan,” said Angela Yang.  “We want to invite the entire community to join us and participate in a unique cooking class at the Taiwanese Cultural Center this Sunday, July 7.”

There is a $15 cost for the class and it covers cooking class expenses, which includes ingredients to create two authentic Taiwanese dishes, pan fry noodle and dumplings/potstickers.  The 2-hour class begins at 3 p.m. at the Taiwanese Cultural Center, 55 E. 63rd Street in Westmont.

CHEFS WILL INTERACT
WITH LOCAL RESTAURANTS

While in Westmont, the Taiwanese chefs will visit local restaurants Uncle Bub's and Vincitori's to participate in a culinary cultural exchange.  "This will be a fun way for the chefs to share and exchange their ideas and secrets about cooking and preparing food," said Sister City committee member Larry Forssberg.  "We always look forward to having our Taiwanese guests visit our community.  It's a benefit to everyone involved."
