Posted on: May 20, 2019[ARCHIVED] Cop On A Rooftop and Paper Shred Events Huge Success for Special Olympics

The Westmont Police Department had a busy weekend raising money for Special Olympics. The Cop on a Rooftop event took place Friday, May 17 and the Paper Shred fundraiser was held on Saturday, May 18. The two events brought in more than $6,500.00, all of which benefits Special Olympics Illinois.
“This year’s Cop on a Rooftop broke all of our previous fundraising records,” said Deputy Chief Gruen. “And I can’t say enough about the continued support we receive from Todd Baryl and Docu-Shred. We are very appreciative of everyone’s participation and support working together for this great cause.”
Both Westmont Dunkin’ locations participated in the Cop On A Rooftop event. Police staff and Citizen Police Academy Alumni volunteers collected more than $5,200.00.
The Westmont Police Department co-hosted the paper shred event with Westmont-based business Docu-Shred. Westmont Police and volunteers assisted the public who came to the police department to drop off their documents for safe disposal. This event raised $1,366.00.
