[ARCHIVED] “Demolition” Ceremony Scheduled for December 15 at Cass & 63rd Development

Westmont, Illinois
Date Issued: December 6, 2018

Bradford Real Estate, Kensington Development Partners, and investment partner IM Properties have completed the acquisition of The Westmont Village Centre at 63rd and Cass for a long-awaited redevelopment.  A "demolition" ceremony has been scheduled for December 15 at 10 a.m.  The entire community has been invited to attend and participate.

“There has been quite a bit of anticipation for this new project at 63rd Street and Cass Avenue,” said Ronald Gunter, Mayor of the Village of Westmont. “The project developers, Chicago-based Bradford Real Estate and Oak Brook-based Kensington Development Partners, are working with our Communications team and are getting creative in the planning of the 63rd and Cass “demolition” ceremony.  Westmont is ready for this change, to help our South Westmont Business District to flourish.”

The 63rd and Cass “demolition” ceremony is scheduled for December 15, at 10 a.m.at 10 W. 63rd Street, the former Westbrook Market location.  The entire community is invited to attend and participate. “We are planning to invite all of our elected officials and our South Westmont Business District partners to grab a sledgehammer and take a swing at the old building as we get ready for this important, new development in our community,” said Economic Development Director Larry Forssberg.  “It will be a symbolic moment as we finally move forward with a business development project that will serve as the commercial core of 63rd and Cass for decades to come.”

Some of the proposed businesses that are scheduled to be part of the development include a multi-screen movie theatre, several restaurants including Raising Cane’s, an LA Fitness “Signature Club” facility, and more. Businesses located on the corner of Cass and 63rd, including Walgreen’s, Burger King, and Italiamo, will be unaffected. “The Bradford and Kensington Teams along with the Village of Westmont, have worked hard for the past three years to make this project a reality” noted John Schoditsch, Principal of Kensington Development Partners.

Once started, the demolition process is expected to continue through the spring of 2019.  A groundbreaking ceremony for project construction will begin after that. For more information on this project, please contact Westmont Economic Development Director Larry Forssberg at 630-824-9337 or Forssberg@westmont.il.gov.
