Village of Westmont
Date Issued: November 16, 2018
The Westmont Police Department has launched a new Facebook page and invites everyone to sign up and be informed.
“Social media is such an important means of communication that we decided to start our own Police Department Facebook page in addition to posting info on the Village of Westmont Government Facebook page,” said Westmont Police Chief Jim Gunther. “We plan to use this format to keep residents informed about the activities of their Police Department including safety tips, Police Department special events and programs, as well as links to our weekly local crime reports.”
The new Westmont Police Department Facebook page will also be an additional communications outlet for community emergencies as well as serious crimes that require notification to local citizens. The Village encourages anyone who already participates on social media to ‘follow’ the Village of Westmont Police Department Facebook page.
“We recently posted information about a lost pet that was very helpful in reuniting the pet with its owner,” said Angela Whitehead, who coordinates the social media posts from the Police Department. “We also publish crime hazard alerts, recruitment and hiring notices, pictures of our personnel engaging with the community, as well as information about our Special Olympics Illinois Fundraising events. This is a great opportunity to better connect with the citizens we serve.”
