“Last year, our Fall and Halloween events were rebranded as ‘Wicked West Fest’ and we had our most successful year ever,” said Larry McIntyre, Westmont Communications Director.  “Based on the enthusiastic response that we’ve received for this year, we’re expecting 2018 to be another exciting year!”  Following are some of this year’s highlights:

THE LAST STRAW
October 7 - Noon to 4PM
Gregg House Museum - 115 S. Linden

Come to the Gregg House Museum for a variety of fun family activities: Make a scarecrow (nominal fee), decorate pumpkins, meet a beekeeper, see an awesome reptile/frog program, learn about bunnies, chickens and cows, enjoy music fun with Tim Wilsey, visit the petting zoo, pan for gold, and more.  For more info, contact the Westmont Historical Society at 630-960-3392.


WESTMONT SCARECROW DECORATING CONTEST
Voting - October 8th-31st

Downtown Westmont on Cass between Naperville/Chicago Avenue
Organize your family, business, or community organization into a team and enter the Chamber’s Scarecrow Contest.  Scarecrows will be on display in downtown Westmont and the entire community is asked to cast their votes for their favorite scarecrow online at westmontchamber.com before midnight on October 31.  Winners will be announced at the November Village of Westmont Board meeting and on the Shop, Dine, Discover Westmont Facebook Page.  For more info, contact the Westmont Chamber at westmontchamber.com or 630-960-5553.


WESTMONT FALL WINE TASTING
October 6 - VIP Event 1 to 2PM; Main Event 2 to 6PM
In front of Dolce Restaurant & Wine Bar - 15 W. Quincy

This year’s wine tasting event will take place at Dolce Wine Bar.  Ticket sales will be coordinated through Shaw Media where you can purchase VIP or General Admission tickets.  Guests will be able to learn about and sample a wide variety of unique, local wines as well as make purchases at the end of the event.  For more information, contact Dolce at dolceswestmont.com or 630-663-0401.

SCREAM AT THE LIBRARY 
October 18 - 6PM
Westmont Public Library, 428 N. Cass

On Thursday, October 18 at 6 p.m., the Westmont Library will show the classic horror picture “Scream”.  No registration is required.


WICKED WEST FEST HALLOWEEN COSTUME CONTEST 
October 20 - 10:30AM
Downtown Westmont - Southwest corner of Cass and Irving

Dress up for Halloween and come to downtown Westmont to be part of this fun costume contest.  There will be six categories: Newborn to 1-year olds, 2-5 years old, 6-9 years old, 10-13 years old, 14 & older, and a group/family category (Must have at least 3 people).  For more information, contact Westmont Special Events at wsec@westmontevents.com or 630-829-9378.


PUMPKIN SMASHING EXTRAVAGANZA 
October 20, 11AM 
Downtown Westmont - Corner of Cass and Irving

Westmont community groups and public agencies will compete in our 3rd annual pumpkin smashing extravaganza. Competitors will go 20 feet up in the air in a bucket truck and then throw their pumpkin at a target below in an attempt to earn the titles of Pumpkin King and Queen.  All of the fun is an effort to promote pumpkin recycling/composting at Richmond Education Gardens & Apiary.  For more information, contact us at communications@westmont.il.gov or 630-417-0280.


TRICK OR TREAT TRAIL 
October 20 - 11AM to 1PM
Downtown Westmont on Cass

Come to downtown Westmont in your Halloween Costume and go trick or treating at participating businesses throughout the downtown business district.  For more info, contact the Chamber at www.westmontchamber.com or 630-960-5553.


CASKETS ON CASS RACE
October 20 - 12:30PM 
Downtown Westmont on Cass

Caskets on Cass is a foot race of homemade caskets sponsored by community organizations, businesses, and area residents.  To learn more and sign up, contact the Westmont Chamber at 630-960-5553. 


HAUNTED FOREST TOUR  
October 20 - 5 to 9:30PM
Twin Lakes Woods - 200 W. 59th Street

Follow the trail and take a haunted hayrack ride through Twin Lakes Woods as ghosts, ghouls and monsters come alive before your very eyes! There will be a Merry Monsters Matinee (spooky) performance from 5 to 6:30PM for younger children.  Cost is $6 per person.  For more information contact the Westmont Park District at 630-963-5252.


ZOMBIE PUB CRAWL 
October 27 - 2 to 6PM
Various Locations Throughout Westmont

Last year was so successful that this year there will be twice as many locations involved.  This event, hosted by Westmont Special Events, takes guests throughout the community visiting participating pubs and restaurants. Each location will have food and beverage specials as well as a fun Halloween activity.  Guests will choose either the northside or southside tour.  This is a 21 and over event.  The $15 fee covers transportation and an event t-shirt.  Tickets and registration at westmontevents.com.  For more info, contact WSEC at wsec@westmontevents.com or 630-829-9378


HALLOWEEN FUN FAIR  
October 31 - 4:30 to 7:30PM 
Westmont Park District - 75 E. Richmond

Enjoy a safe and warm Halloween as the whole family is invited to a fun-filled time as you trick or treat with us!  There will be games, concessions, a parade of costumes, and more.  For more information, contact the Westmont Park District at westmontparks.org or 630-963-5252.
