The Westmont Police Department is participating in Illinois’ inaugural Saturation Saturday DUI Initiative, Saturday, August 25, 2018, hosted by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Illinois.
MADD Illinois is partnering with state, county, and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois to join efforts and increase enforcement during the evening hours of Saturday, August 25 and early morning hours of Sunday, August 26. The goal of the project is to raise awareness on the dangers of impaired driving and increase enforcement to remove and arrest individuals driving under the influence.
“Driving a car under the influence is a serious offense and we enthusiastically support this initiative,” said Westmont Police Chief Jim Gunther. “The Westmont PD will participate in this project by assigning extra personnel to the specific task of identifying motorists who are potentially impaired. With so many options for getting a ride home from various cab or transportation businesses, there’s never a reason for someone to drive while they are intoxicated. We thank MADD Illinois for starting this program and we look forward to being involved.”
