Date Issued: May 4, 2018
The Cop On A Rooftop fundraiser will take place at participating Dunkin’ Donuts on Friday, May 18. Come out and support Special Olympics and see your favorite police officer wave hello from the rooftop of Dunkin’ Donuts. In Westmont, both Dunkin’ Donuts locations, 19 W. 63rd Street and 121 W. Ogden Avenue, will be participating from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m.
2018 marks the 16th Anniversary of the Dunkin’ Donuts Cop on a Rooftop event with the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois. This event has been a huge success over the years with more than $3.9 million being raised through this partnership. Special Olympics athletes and their families will join police officers and show their support during the event.
“Deputy Chief Gruen and I are always so happy to support the Special Olympics,” said Chief Gunther. “We hope to see the community out to support them as well.”
The Westmont Police Department has already completed several fundraising events and are working on more. In April, the Westmont Fraternal Order of Police coordinated a volleyball tournament with local schools and the Westmont Fire Department, which raised $1800. Later this year, the Police Department plans to bring back the “5-0 Whiskers Club” in which the Westmont Police Officers will grow beards and solicit sponsors to raise money.
