At the Westmont Village Board meeting on February 15, 2018, the Westmont Police Department was recognized for their 2017 fundraising efforts for Special Olympics Illinois.
“The Westmont Police Department is proud to support Special Olympics Illinois,” said Deputy Chief Brian Gruen, who helps coordinate the fundraisers. “Each year, our contributions to Special Olympics Illinois continue to grow.” The Westmont Police Department received a Silver Medal Award from Special Olympics Illinois for raising between $10,000 - $14,999 in 2017, which is more than double the amount raised in 2016.
“Special Olympics creates opportunities for children and adults with special needs to participate in competitive sports,” said Westmont Police Chief James Gunther, who has been part of the Illinois Special Olympics Torch Run for more than 5 years. “We encourage everyone to support this great cause. It really does make a difference in the lives of these young people.”
The Westmont Police Department will continue their ambitious schedule of fundraising events in 2018. Following is this year’s schedule:

Dunkin’ Donuts Cop On Top
May 18, 2018 from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Dunkin’ Donuts, 19 W. 63rd Street and 121 W. Ogden in Westmont,
