Posted on: January 22, 2018[ARCHIVED] Police Department Services
Village of Westmont
Date Issued: January 22, 2018
Did you know that the Westmont Police Department will perform a check on residences when homeowners are on vacation? The Police Department provides a wide range of services for our citizens. Below are just a few of the services available.
SAFE EXCHANGE ZONE
On July 1, 2017, the Police Department designated a Safe Exchange Zone (SEZ). The two parking spots designated as the SEZ are located on the southeast corner of the Police Department, 500 N. Cass Ave. Both spots are video recorded and available 24/7. The SEZ can be used as a safe haven for internet property sales/exchanges and child custody exchanges. No reservation is necessary.
VACATION WATCHES
The Department will check on residences up to eight weeks of the residents’ absence. Officers will walk around the residence to ensure nothing has been tampered with. The resident will receive a letter upon their return letting them know the time, date and name of the officer who performed the check. Vacation watch request forms are available at westmont.illinois.gov and from the records division in the lobby of the Police Department.
OVERNIGHT PARKING ADVANCE NOTICE (UP TO FIVE TIMES PER MONTH)
The Village prohibits vehicles from parking on village streets and parking lots from 2-6 a.m. nightly. The Police Department may grant permission for overnight parking for residents up to five times per month. Call Records during business hours or call the non-emergency phone number at 630-981-6300 to reach dispatch before 2 a.m.
NEIGHBORHOOD TRAFFIC SERVICES
The Police Department offers services to address community traffic concerns. If your neighborhood or street is experiencing traffic problems, please contact the Police Department for assistance.
- TARGETED PATROLS occur in a specific area that requires traffic pedestrian enforcement. Patrols address speeding, stop sign and railroad crossing violations, parking over sidewalks, etc.
- SPEED STUDIES may be requested to address speeding concerns in an area.
- SPEED TRAILERS may be requested for specific areas to deter speeding as well as raise awareness of posted speed limits.
VEHICLE LOCKOUTS
The winter months are often a time of increased vehicle lockouts. You may request assistance from the Police Department in the event you lock your keys in your car. Simply call the non-emergency number at 630-981-6300 and provide your name, vehicle description and location.
Inquiries and requests for any and all Westmont Police Department Services may be sent to chiefofpolice@westmont.il.gov. We look forward to serving you.
