Now that winter is here, it’s important for citizens to be prepared for the sometimes harsh and dangerous weather conditions of the season.
The
ProtectDuPage.org website and related social media accounts (@ProtectDuPage on Twitter and Facebook) contain preparedness information pertaining to Winter Weather, including a link to the Warming Centers List and Map maintained by the DuPage Community Services department. DuPage County recommends that citizens should monitor the latest weather forecasts, watches and warnings via the National Weather Service. The Chicago office websites are
weather.gov/Chicago or mobile.weather.gov.
Additionally, FEMA has created a series of informational brochures that help coach residents regarding how to be ready for severe winter weather. Please take time to take a look at this helpful informational guide.

“Our local, regional and federal EMA programs provide an invaluable service for our residents,” said Westmont Fire Chief and EMA Director David Weiss. “In Westmont, one of the services provided by our EMA volunteers is the monitoring of storm systems as they approach our community so that our emergency services can be ready to respond. I want to personally thank our local EMA members for all they do.”
