“With all of the success we’ve had regarding our fall and Halloween-related events in Westmont, we thought it would be a good idea to try and capture all of these programs under one brand,” said Larry McIntyre, Westmont Communications Director. “Over a month ago, we asked the community to help us name our fall events and we had over 40 suggestions. We did some market research with the names that were suggested and we've made a decision - This year’s fall events in Westmont will be branded as WICKED WEST FEST! With a sub-slogan of THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE HOLLY DAYS!"
Not only is there a new name to help promote fall events in Westmont, but there will also be several exciting new events. Following is a schedule of events for the 2017 WICKED WEST FEST:
THE LAST STRAW
October 1 - Noon to 4:00PM
Gregg House Museum - 115 S. Linden
Come to the Gregg House Museum for a variety of fun family activities: Make a scarecrow (nominal fee), decorate pumpkins, meet a beekeeper, see an awesome reptile/frog program, learn about bunnies, chickens and cows, enjoy music fun with Tim Wilsey, create cool crafts, make rope, play games, and more. WESTMONT SCARECROW DECORATING CONTEST
Voting - October 9-23
Downtown Westmont on Cass
Organize your family, business, or community organization into a team and enter the Chamber’s Scarecrow Contest. Scarecrows will be on display in downtown Westmont and the entire community is asked to cast their votes for their favorite scarecrow. FREAKY FRIDAY FILM SERIES

WESTMONT FALL WINE TASTING
October 7 - 2 to 6:00PM
Dolce Restaurant & Wine Bar - 15 W. Quincy
This new wine tasting event will take place at Dolce Wine Bar. Ticket sales will be coordinated through Shaw Media. Guests will be able to learn about and sample a wide variety of unique, local wines as well as make purchases at the end of the event. WICKED WEST FEST HALLOWEEN COSTUME CONTEST

Dress up for Halloween and come to downtown Westmont to be part of this fun costume contest. There will be six categories: Newborn to 1-year olds, 2-5 years old, 6-9 years old, 10-13 years old, 14 & older, and s group/family category (Must have at least 3 people). PUMPKIN SMASHING EXTRAVAGANZA

Westmont community groups and public agencies will compete in our 3rd annual pumpkin smashing extravaganza. Competitors will go 20 feet up in the air in a bucket truck and then throw their pumpkin at a target below in an attempt to earn the titles of Pumpkin King and Queen. HAUNTED FOREST TOUR

Twin Lakes Woods - 200 W. 59th Street
Follow the trail and take a haunted hayrack ride through Twin Lakes Woods as ghosts, ghouls and monsters come alive before your very eyes! There will be a Merry Monsters Matinee (spooky) performance from 5 to 6:30PM for younger children. Cost is $6 per person. For more information contact the Westmont Park District at 630-963-5252.
ZOMBIE PUB CRAWL
October 28 - 2 to 6:00PM
Various Locations Throughout Westmont
This new event hosted by Westmont Special Events invites guests to take a ride on the Boogeyman Bus as we venture throughout the community visiting participating pubs. Each location will have food and beverage specials as well as a fun Halloween activity including a costume contest. This is a 21 and over event and there is a $15 fee that covers transportation and an event t-shirt. Details for this program will be available soon.
