Posted on: September 5, 2017[ARCHIVED] Young Athletes Invited To Sign Up For U.S. Luge Team Tryouts On Sept. 16 & 17

Young Olympic hopefuls from throughout the Midwest will travel to the western suburbs of Chicago to demonstrate their skill at “street luge” on Sept. 16 & 17. “This is the fourth time in the last decade that these tryouts have been held in Westmont,” said Westmont Communications Director Larry McIntyre. “We seem to have the perfect hill.”
Girls and boys, ages 9-13, are invited to sign up and participate. Young athletes will be trained by members of the U.S. Olympic Luge Team and then be timed and evaluated. The clinics utilize actual luge sleds equipped with wheels for summer use and participants are taught the basics of how to ride and steer a luge sled by U.S. Luge Team athletes and coaches.

The tryouts will be held just south of Uncle Bub’s BBQ at 132 S. Cass Avenue in Westmont. Tryouts will be held between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. For more information, visit their website at usaluge.org or call their hotline 1-800-USA-LUGE.
