PRESS RELEASE
Date Issued: December 21, 2012
The Village of Westmont has scheduled a public hearing pertaining to the Westmont Comprehensive Plan for Wednesday, January 9, 7 p.m. at the Village Hall, 31 W. Quincy. There will be an open house prior to the public hearing from 5 to 7 p.m.
“This open house and public hearing represents the culmination of more than one year of hard work on the part of our community,” says Community Development Director Shannon Malik. “During the open house, residents will be able to talk directly with staff and our comprehensive plan consultants about the the final draft recommendations and concepts that came out of this process.”
Over the past year, the Village’s planning consultant, Houseal Lavigne, has facilitated numerous surveys, public meetings, steering committee discussions, and community workshops to seek feedback from residents, business owners, and other interested parties regarding the future of Westmont.
Writing the new Comprehensive Plan has provided a great opportunity for residents to communicate what they believe to be the strengths and weaknesses of the community, and to prioritize what issues are most important for the Village to address in the near term and in the future. The entire process was designed to promote community involvement and encourage citizen participation.
