Updated June 15, 2017
The Village of Westmont currently contracts with Waste Management to provide Residential Recycling and Waste Hauling Services. Per the Village’s recently renewed contract, all residential customers (those who are billed for garbage on their water/garbage bill from the Village of Westmont) will receive a new, 96-gallon garbage container. Please note that this new container is for trash only. These new containers will hold up to 200 pounds of waste, which is 4 times the weight allowed in the previous contract. Delivery of the new garbage containers will take place the week of June 12. This new container must be used for trash pickup to allow for automated pickup. Resident will continue to use their previous recycling container from Waste Management for recycling.
The new contract and new container were the result of resident recommendations to all more waste hauling capacity. The new container, which allows for automated pickup, helped the Village secure a favorable waste hauling rate for residents in addition to allowing for more waste hauling capacity.
After the delivery of your new container, clearly mark your old container “PLEASE TAKE” if you want your old container to be disposed of by Waste Management. Only metal garbage containers are recyclable.
For more information, please contact Waste Management at 800-796-9696 or wm.com.
