The Westmont Police Department will, once again participate in the Dunkin’ Donuts Cop on a Rooftop event with the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.
This year’s event will be held on Friday, May 19, 2017. Westmont Police Chief Jim Gunther and officers will be at both Westmont Dunkin’ Donuts locations, 19 W. 63rd Street and 121 W. Ogden Avenue, from 6 a.m. to noon.
Each person who makes a donation will receive a coupon for a free donut to be used on a future date. With a ten-dollar donation, you receive a Special Olympics insulated mug.
Renee Harris, longtime Cop on Rooftop volunteer, said, "This is important work. I have personally experienced the support the police are able to offer Special Olympians because of the generous donations from citizens. Being part of this event is fun, inspiring, and empowering. It is touching to see the support from the citizens and the involvement from the Westmont Police Department."
2017 marks the 15th Anniversary for the Cop on Rooftop event. It is a statewide event with over 225 participating locations.
