Village of Westmont
Date Issued: July 27, 2015
More than 600 kids visited Ty Warner Park in Westmont on Wednesday, July 22 to participate in the Illinois Park and Recreation Association’s Teen Camp Olympics. “It was truly exciting to have this many kids come to our park for this event,” says Steve Golembiewski, the Westmont Park District staff responsible for coordinating the event and bringing it to the village. “More than 50 teams competed in the contest and we had people come all the way from Champaign. We hope to make this an annual event in Westmont.”
The IPRA Teen Committee planned 6 different team building games for day camps throughout the Chicagoland area. The top three teams in the competition were the Park District of Oak Park, Winnetka, and Madinah. The Spirit Stick award was presented to the Champaign Park District.
The IPRA Teen Committee is already excited to start planning for the 2016 event and they hope to get even more participants next summer. Congratulations to the Westmont Park District for hosting this wonderful and successful event. Photos from the event can be found in the Photo Gallery on the Village Website at westmont.illinois.gov.
