The Westmont Economic Development Partnership (WEDP) is pleased to announce that the ground-breaking for the new Mariano’s in Westmont on West 63rd Street will commence July 2015. “This is very exciting for Westmont,” says Westmont Mayor Ron Gunter. “This is an important step as we continue to re-build our South Westmont Business District.” The new Mariano’s in Westmont is expected to open in 2016.
July is also the five-year anniversary of Mariano’s very first store opening. CEO Robert Mariano began this new retail format in 2010. Mariano’s are designed to deliver the highest quality products from around the world as well as locally-grown produce while providing shoppers with exceptional service and hospitality. Westmont has designated the South Westmont Business District, the location of the new Westmont Mariano’s, as a priority area for economic development. The construction of this new Mariano’s is the direct result of the combination of updating a community-wide comprehensive plan to guide future land use and the implementation of a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District. “The TIF District is key in helping Westmont jump-start new projects,” adds Gunter. “We are in conversation with other developers regarding various projects in town. We expect more projects to be proposed and in development soon. This is an exciting time for Westmont!”
