Village of Westmont
Date Issued: Jan. 6, 2015
With the beginning of the new year, many people begin planning home remodeling projects. The Village of Westmont reminds everyone that most remodeling and construction projects require permits. The permitting process helps ensure that people doing work to improve their homes are following code safely. Many of these home and business renovation and remodeling projects require a permit BEFORE work begins. Projects that require permits include but are not limited to the following:
* Building
* Demolition
* Plumbing
* Electrical
* Heating-ventilation-air conditioning (HVAC)
* Excavation
* Concrete
* Carpentry
* Masonry
* Drywall
* Roofing
* Patios & Decks
* Swimming Pools & Spas
* Landscaping
* Driveways
* Sidewalks
* And more
For specific information regarding permits and inspections, please visit the Village Website at westmont.illinois.gov and look under Departments>Community Development. If you have a question about whether your home improvement work requires a permit, please contact the Community Development Department at the Village Hall, 31 W. Quincy, or email rgross@westmont.il.gov or jbabyar@westmont.il.gov or call 630-981-6250. We will be happy to assist you with your project.
