“As we’ve been working on various new programs and initiatives, we realized that neighborhood pride and involvement is the common thread to a lot of what we are doing,” says Westmont First Chair Bruce Barker. “Several of these programs including Adopt-A-Hydrant, Alley/Block Clean-Up, Block Captains, Community Leaf Raking, Community Garage Sales, and Block Parties all focus on our neighborhoods working together for a common goal.”
In October, Westmont First is planning to unveil the full scope of the Neighborhood Pride Program. The program will encourage residents to get involved in their neighborhoods to work on projects that directly benefit their block.
“To provide additional incentive for residents to get involved, Westmont First is looking into creating a friendly community competition for the Neighborhood Pride Program,” says Westmont Communications Director Larry McIntyre. “We plan to recognize program participants, and have prizes for award-winning neighborhoods. Details will come out this fall in time for residents to sign up for the Leaf Raking Program and the Adopt-A-Hydrant Program.”
