Update: September 25, 2014
The Westmont Police Department will host an unwanted and expired drug disposal program on Saturday, Sept. 27, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Westmont Police Department, 500 N. Cass Avenue. The collection will accept pills and patches only. The program does not accept liquids, inhalers, sprays or creams. Needles can be dropped off at the sharps kiosk in the Police Dept. lobby during this event as well as during regular office hours.
“This program is designed to provide citizens with an opportunity to safely dispose of old and unwanted prescription drugs,” says Deputy Police Chief Ross Brenza. “The goal of the program is to reduce substance abuse, especially amongst teens, as well as prevent potentially dangerous drugs from entering the fresh water supply.”
Members of the Westmont Police Department and the DEA will receive all medications being delivered to the collection site and will ensure safe disposal of these drugs.
