At the June 26, 2014 Village Board Meeting, Firefighter/Paramedics Kathy Meier and Rob Deubel were honored and presented with Life Saving Awards. The awards were in regard to a mutual aid call with Tri-State Fire Protection District this past February. Arriving on the scene, Meier and Deubel had found that the patient had experienced a full cardiac arrest, had no pulse and was not breathing. Meier was the lead paramedic on the scene. They initiated care and began to provide transport to Hinsdale Hospital. While en route to the hospital, a defibrillator was employed and resulted in returning a pulse and breathing to the patient. Initially, the patient was not expected to survive, but then her health rebounded and she is now in a rehab center. Congratulations to Meier and Deubel for the excellent work with the Village of Westmont Fire Department.
