Village of Westmont
Date Issued: April 21, 2014
The Village of Westmont is once again giving free seedlings to Westmont residents who want to plant new trees in the community. “This program has been very successful,” says Jon Yeater, Village Forester. “We have over 600 seedlings to hand out this year.”
The program runs from Monday, April 21 through Thursday, April 24 while quantities last. Seedlings are available for pickup at the Village Hall, 31 W. Quincy. Participants should visit the Municipal Services Office on the first floor to sign up for the program and choose the seedlings they want. Each resident will be allowed to pick up two seedlings on the initial visit. If there are seedlings remaining by Thursday, April 24, then residents can return and choose additional seedlings. All seedlings must be planted in the Village of Westmont.
Additionally, in honor of Arbor Day, the Village of Westmont will be at Manning School on April 25 to interact with students and plant new trees on the school property near Norfolk and Linden. “Each year, the Village works with local schools on this project,” adds Yeater. “We’re excited to continue to work with students so they can learn about the importance of trees in our ecology.”
