Village of Westmont
Date Issued: April 16, 2014
The Village of Westmont Community Development Department wants to remind residents that most remodeling and home improvement projects require permits. “Especially in the spring when the weather starts to get warmer, a lot of people begin to plan home improvement projects,” says Village Planner Jill Ziegler. “It’s important for people to understand that the permitting process helps to keep homeowners and their neighbors safe.”
Some of the various projects that require permits include: roofing, concrete work, electrical projects, plumbing, decks, porches, indoor and outdoor stairs, demolition, driveway replacement, swimming pools, sheds, and more. Also, permits are necessary for the use of POD temporary storage containers.
“If you have a question, we invite you to contact our Community Development office,” adds Ziegler. “We’re eager to work with you and provide the information needed to get your project started.”
