The Westmont Environmental Improvement Commission (EIC) will host a special meeting on Monday, March 31, 6 p.m. at the Village Hall, 31 W. Quincy Street. The meeting will feature three separate presentations on the topics of Mosquito Abatement, Organic Composting, and a new Community Garden Project.
“We encourage residents to come to the meeting or watch the recording on our Village YouTube Channel,” says Larry McIntyre, Westmont Communications Director and EIC Liaison. “These presentations showcase just a few of the initiatives that the EIC plans to address this upcoming year.”
One of the speakers will be Kay McKeen from SCARCE (School and Community Assistance for Composting and Recycling Education - Inspiring People to Care for the Earth in DuPage County, Illinois). Kay will be providing information on successful composting projects as well as community gardening initiatives throughout DuPage County. Additionally, Dan Ungerleider from the Village of Clarendon Hills will talk about a joint community garden project with the Village of Westmont. This specific project will focus on educational opportunities as well as a beekeeping project.
