Westmont, Illinois - Date Issued: Oct. 23, 2023

On Saturday, October 14, the Westmont Fire Department celebrated its 100th Anniversary with an open house at Johanik Fire Station Headquarters, 6015 S. Cass Avenue. In spite of poor weather, the event was a big success and there were several memorable highlights. More than 20 vendors and local organizations participated in the event.
“We are very proud of our history,” said Westmont Fire Chief Steve Riley. “We thank everyone who participated in the event as well as all of our guests who attended. We greatly appreciate everyone’s support of our Westmont Fire Department.” One of the event highlights was the unveiling of the 100th Anniversary plaque, which lists every current member of the Westmont Fire Department.
The Fire Department also made a special award presentation to Retired Fire Chief David Weiss for his 50 years of service in the field of fire service. Weiss recently ended his fire service career when he retired from his position as the Coordinator for the Westmont Emergency Management Agency (EMA).
Congratulations to Chief Riley and the Westmont Fire Department for their successful 100th Anniversary Celebration and Open House. Photos from the event have been published on the Village website in the photo gallery.
