Westmont, Illinois - Date Issued: August 18, 2023

In the spring of 2022, the Westmont Public Library helped facilitate a new gardening club under the Westmont Grows program. From this initiative, the Westmont Garden Club (WGC) was created. The main goals of the WGC are to work with Village of Westmont and other community groups to beautify the village, to discuss and learn about gardening and related topics, and meet members of the community.
This past summer, the WGC worked with the Village to coordinate plantings at various locations in Westmont including the Westmont Police-Fire facility, the Westmont Public Library, and the Richmond Education Gardens & Apiary (REGA).
The plantings at REGA are gardens that highlight vegetables and herbs from Mexico, Asia, and West Africa. The WGC invites the community to visit these gardens and harvest from them. All vegetables that are not harvested by the public will be donated to the People’s Resource Center. The WGC has also created informational flyers and recipes that can be picked up on site at each garden.
To learn more about the Westmont Garden Club, you can visit their Facebook page. You can also visit the Library’s website to sign up and receive their e-newsletter. The group typically meets at the Westmont Library on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
