May 26, 2023 ** UPDATE - Weather permitting, the community-wide mosquito larviciding treatment has been rescheduled for May 30, 2023.
The Village of Westmont contracts with Clarke Mosquito Management to help control adult mosquito populations. As part of Clarke’s comprehensive mosquito management program, community-wide mosquito control applications occur at various times throughout the year. Weather permitting, the next community-wide mosquito larviciding treatment is scheduled for May 26, 2023. This will be administered via helicopter to select areas where mosquitoes breed to prevent their larvae from developing into flying, biting adults. The product used for this application is OMRI-listed and approved for use in residential areas.

USE REPELLENTWhen outdoors, especially at dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most active, use mosquito repellent on skin that is not covered by clothing.
LIMIT OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES AT DUSK AND DAWNMosquitoes are most active at dawn and dusk - try to limit outdoor activities at these times. If you are outside, cover up as much skin as possible. It’s also recommended to wear light colored long-sleeved shirts, pants, shoes and socks.
ELIMINATE STANDING WATEREliminate mosquito breeding sites, such as leaking hoses, standing water in tires, plastic containers, watering bowls for pets, and other solid surfaces that hold water, by removing standing water.
MAKE SURE WINDOWS AND SCREENS ARE SECUREMake sure doors and windows have tight fitting screens by repairing or replacing screens that have holes or tears.
