“The response to our Muddy Warhol Art Contest was incredible,” said Kristina Kaniauskaite, Executive Director for the Westmont Special Events Corporation, NFP. “We sincerely want to thank everyone who took the time to create these wonderful works of art and submit them for this program. Westmont Special Events invites everyone to come to the premiere of this exhibit on May 21 as we officially debut this incredible artwork to the public.” A total of 37 submissions were chosen for the exhibit.
Westmont Special Events, a volunteer-based, not-for-profit organization, has scheduled the debut of this exhibit for Sunday, May 21, 1 p.m. at Westmont Centre, One South Cass Avenue, Suite 102, in Downtown Westmont. After the official debut, the Muddy Warhol Art Exhibit will be open to the public on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, May 22 through September 30, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 to 4 p.m.
The exhibit pays tribute to blues music legend Muddy Waters, who lived in Westmont from 1973 until 1983. The concept for the contest and exhibit was to create Andy Warhol-inspired art that featured the likeness of Muddy Waters. The Muddy Warhol Art Exhibit in Westmont will cross-promote a separate Andy Warhol Exhibit at the College of DuPage, which will be on display from June 3 through September 10 at the MAC Center.
