Westmont, Illinois – Date Issued: February 23, 2023
On February 23, at approximately 11:45 a.m., Westmont Public Works staff directly contacted the Westmont Fire and Police Departments to respond to a crisis situation in which a Village of Westmont Public Works employee was trapped in an underground water main vault which was under water resulting from a burst water main. The water main is located at the intersection of 60th Street and Deming Place. The person trapped in the water main was recovered at approximately 12:40 p.m. and was found unresponsive. CPR and lifesaving measures were immediately administered and the person was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital.
Village of Westmont staff is in process of contacting the family and the name of the individual will not be released to the public until it has been confirmed that the family is properly notified.
