Westmont, Illinois -- Date Issued: August 18, 2022
On Wednesday, August 17, 2022, the Westmont Fire Department received Accredited Agency status with the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) for meeting the criteria established through the CFAI’s voluntary self-assessment and accreditation program. The Westmont Fire Department is one of more than 300 agencies to achieve Internationally Accredited Agency status with the CFAI and the Center for Public Safety Excellence, Inc. (CPSE).
“I was very humbled and honored to be part of this,” said Village Trustee Marie Johanik-Guzzo, who attended the presentation. “This is a tremendous honor for our community and speaks to the dedication and professionalism of our Westmont Fire Department. I want to thank Fire Chief Steve Riley and the entire Westmont Fire Department for their commitment to attaining this status and providing our citizens with an elite emergency response organization.”
This is the 5th time that the Westmont Fire Department has achieved this accreditation. Westmont is the only part-time Fire Department in the country that has achieved accreditation as well as a Class 1 ISO rating.
CFAI is dedicated to assisting the fire and emergency service agencies throughout the world in achieving excellence through self-assessment and accreditation to provide continuous quality improvement and the enhancement of service delivery to their communities. The CFAI process is voluntary and provides an agency with an improvement model to assess their service delivery and performance internally and then works with a team of peers from other agencies to evaluate their completed self-assessment.
The Village of Westmont congratulates the Westmont Fire Department regarding this important achievement.
