SPRING FLING BACKYARD BBQ
May 27-29, 2022
Ty Warner Park
The Spring Fling Backyard BBQ hosted by the Westmont Lions Club is a free event complete with live music, food vendors, an amateur BBQ competition, commercial and craft vendors, and an all-ages carnival.
“Our Westmont Lion’s Club Memorial Day event has been updated to take on more of a local flavor,” said Spring Fling Coordinator Dan Buczkowski. “We made an extra effort to hire local bands, several of which have a direct connection to Westmont, and the Backyard BBQ Competition will provide an opportunity for all of our local grillers to show off their talent. This is a great event to kick-off all of the wonderful events we have in Westmont throughout the Summer. Be sure to come out Sunday night for our fireworks show.”
Information regarding entertainment, food, cook-off competition, carnival and more can be found on the event website.

The Race to the Flag 5K is a fundraiser hosted by the Westmont Park District and community volunteers. Proceeds from the event benefit the People's Resource Center (PRC), which has a facility in Westmont that helps area residents in need.
“This has been a great event for the community,” said Public Works Director Mike Ramsey, who has been a volunteer for the event since its inception over a decade ago. “I’m honored to have been part of such a worthwhile project and thankful for all of the great people I’ve worked with over the years.”
PRC helps area citizens in a variety of ways and provides basic needs such as food, shelter, and clothing assistance services. In addition, PRC provides job, computer, and literacy training programs as well as art empowerment classes for DuPage County residents.
For race information or to register for the race, please visit the Race to the Flag 5K website at racetotheflag.org.
