Westmont, Illinois -- Date Issued: March 23, 2022
The Village of Westmont Public Works Department was recently recognized by the Illinois Section American Water Works Association (ISAWWA) for their excellence as an ambassador for professional water works advocacy. Westmont received the Gold Level Water Ambassador Award during the annual Watercon event in Springfield, Il.
“We are thrilled to honor the Village of Westmont with one of the inaugural ISAWWA Water Ambassador Gold Awards,” said Annie Storey, ISAWWA Executive Director. “The ISAWWA Water Ambassador Program was created in 2021 to elevate public perception, knowledge, and consumer education of the water industry. Through social media, community outreach, and communication with our elected officials, we’re sharing the message of how water works and how valuable it is to all of us. Nine communities from Illinois received the inaugural award and we look forward to honoring the Village of Westmont each year for their efforts.”
The Illinois Section AWWA provides resources for the advocacy of safe and sustainable water through enriching membership, mentoring, and increasing public awareness. For more information, visit the Illinois Section AWWA website.
