At the March 10 Village Fire Department Safety Committee Meeting, the Westmont Fire Department presented their 2021 Annual Report as well as announced staff promotions, annual service awards, and the Firefighter of the Year Award. FIRE DEPARTMENT PROMOTIONS
- Firefighter/Paramedic Zach Crawford promoted to the position of Lieutenant
- Firefighter/Paramedic Ted Kazeos promoted to the position of Lieutenant
FIRE DEPARTMENT SERVICE AWARDS
- Lieutenant Chris Stoltman - 20 years of service
- Captain Rich Zasada - 20 years of service
- Deputy Chief Kevin O’Hare - 20 years of service
- EMA Brian Eder - 40 years of service
WESTMONT FIREFIGHTER OF THE YEAR AWARD
The Fire Department Awards Committee presented their Westmont Fire Department Firefighter of the Year Award to Captain Joe Newton. Newton is a 21-year member of the Westmont Fire Department. Captain Newton was recognized for his professional, strong work ethic and positive attitude as well as his ability to teach and lead other firefighters. Chief Riley notes that Captain Newton has a passion for taking firefighters under his wing and assisting with their development to help ensure that they will be successful in any situation. Joe is also the coordinator of the Hazardous Materials Team.
