At the February 10, 2022 Community Development Committee meeting, Director of Community Development Bruce Sylvester presented the 2021 annual report to the committee.
“I am very proud of how the department was able to provide such excellent customer service to our community in spite of difficult circumstances including loss of staff,” said Sylvester. “Overall, we had a very successful year and we’re looking forward to continuing this pace as we move into 2022.”
Additionally, Sylvester announced Jaime Hofmann as the 2021 Community Development Department Employee of the Year. Hofmann has worked with the Village of Westmont for 5 years and currently serves as a Community Development Specialist, which includes the roles of Planning and Zoning Administrative Assistant and Adjudication Clerk. “Jaime is responsible for a variety of duties in Community Development and we appreciate all that she does to help us provide great service for our community,” added Sylvester. 2021 Annual Report Highlights
- BUILDING PERMITS - The Westmont Community Development (CD) Department processed 1,467 building permit applications.
- NEW SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENCES - In 2021, 5 new single-family residence permits were issued.
- CODE ENFORCEMENT - A total number of 696 code enforcement cases were opened. This is a record number for this department.
- ZONING - CD processed 36 zoning cases. These cases ranged from variance requests to redevelopment proposals.
- SOLSMART - Multiple staff members participated in SolSmart training, which is designed to assist with the support of solar power-related projects. Permit applications for solar systems were modified and improved. The planning division began review of Westmont zoning regulations for solar systems.
