At the January 27, 2022 Village of Westmont Police Public Safety Committee meeting, Westmont Chief of Police Jim Gunther presented several awards to Police personnel.
Officer Robert Arndt III was presented with the Chief’s Recognition Commendation for his honorable service to our country as a Sergeant in the Illinois Army National Guard. Arndt was called to active duty from October 10, 2020 through December 10, 2021 in support of the border mission in Texas.
Officer David Newton and Officer Kamil Broda were presented with the Chief’s Recognition Commendation for responding to a call on July 20, 2021 regarding a suicidal individual on the railroad tracks in Westmont. Officer Broda, in coordination with other officers, located the subject and successfully removed him from harm’s way as a freight train approached the area.
Officer Daniel Rooney was presented with a Felony Arrest Commendation for conducting a traffic stop and subsequent investigation on March 3, 2021, which led to the arrest of a suspect in possession of a controlled substance.
Chief Gunther, on behalf of the Westmont Police Department, presented Detective Tom Kozielski with the 2021 Employee of the Year. Kozielski was cited for his passion for public service, pride in the community, exemplary customer service, professionalism, positive disposition, work ethic, and productivity.
The Village of Westmont congratulates each of these members of the Westmont Police Department for their excellent service and commitment to the community.
