For homeowners who are struggling to hold onto their homes or are behind on mortgage payments, Gov. Pat Quinn and the State of Illinois have created The Mortgage Relief Project. The project assists Illinois citizens so that they can take advantage of programs that may help lower mortgages and avoid foreclosures. The program includes outreach events in which citizens can learn more about the project and receive free counseling
