Westmont, Illinois -- Date Issued: June 22, 2021
Westmont Public Works personnel were recently called into action to assist with debris clean-up after the severe weather that took place on Sunday evening. Westmont crews have been assigned to help the City of Darien, which sustained substantial damage during the EF-3 tornado that touched down in DuPage County, with a variety of tasks including hazard tree and limb removal, clearing streets and sidewalks, and brush removal. Seven Westmont staff, including three ISA Certified Arborists, began their three-day assignment on Monday. Additionally, Westmont Public Works vehicles including the chipper truck were utilized in the effort. “It’s great to have this relationship with our neighboring communities so that we can help each other during a time of need,” said Village Arborist Dave DeCicco. “We’re happy to assist.” Photos from the clean-up effort have been posted in the Village Photo Gallery.
