Westmont, Illinois -- Date Issued: May 20, 2021
As part of the Village of Westmont’s year-long 100th Anniversary Celebration, the Westmont Historical Society is hosting a Garden Party & Ice Cream Social as well as debuting the Historical Walk at its new location - the Gregg House Museum, 115 S. Linden in Westmont.
GARDEN PARTY & ICE CREAM SOCIAL
On June 20 from 1:00-3:00 p.m., residents are invited to get into the spirit of summer with flowers, fun, and tasty ice cream at the Gregg House Garden. Inspire your inner passion for gardening as you stroll through the historic Gregg House garden. You’ll have a chance to meet expert gardeners from The Garden Club of Downers Grove. Our young green thumbs can plant a flower to take home, do a craft, and meet some animal friends from Hidden Oaks Nature Center. Local author of the new Westmont 100th Anniversary History book, Maggie South, will also be present and copies of the book will be available for purchase. This is a FREE family event, but in accordance with COVID-19 guidelines reservations are required. Suggested donation of $2 for ice cream is appreciated. To reserve your spot call the Park District at 630-969-8080.
HISTORICAL ANNIVERSARY WALK
Beginning Sunday, June 20 and continuing through the end of July, 100th Anniversary History Signs will be placed around the Gregg House Museum. Each historical sign tells a story about the history of Westmont and its development as a community over the past century. The walk represents a historical timeline of Westmont that people can enjoy while visiting the museum.
