Westmont, Illinois -- Date Issued: March 24, 2021
"While the Westmont Special Events Corporation (WSEC) is an independent, not-for-profit, volunteer-driven organization, we have a very close relationship with the Village of Westmont and other community organizations," said WSEC Executive Director Kristina Kaniauskaite. "It is our goal to not only promote the events that we host and coordinate, but also other events that take place in Westmont. Though we have not been able to hold our usual events, the WSEC has been very active this past year with new virtual events and the updating of our website."
Calvin Herion, a College of DuPage student and participant in the D99 Transitions Program, was an intern with the WSEC over the past several months. He and Pranav Viswaneth, a Westmont High School Junior, worked with the WSEC organization to help create a complete overhaul of the WSEC website. The updated website was recently launched.
“We want to thank Pranav and Calvin for all their hard work," said WSEC President Dave Gullotto. "This was a large undertaking and the result of several months of coordination and follow-through. We are now better able to communicate with the public regarding the various events in our community. We encourage the community to check our website for event updates."
Some of the new virtual events hosted by the WSEC this past year include: Take a Selfie with the Turkey Contest, Thanksgiving Crafts & Coloring Contest, Thanksgiving Online Recipe Exchange, Wicked West Fest Online Home Decorating Contest, Wicked West Fest Virtual Costume Contest, Holly Days Online Home Decorating Contest, Finding Frosty Contest, the Shamrock Challenge, and now the Hoppin' Around Westmont Community-wide Easter Egg Hunt.
