Westmont, Illinois - Date Issued: February 26, 2021
As the Village of Westmont’s year-long 100th Anniversary celebration continues, Westmont Special Events Corporation (WSEC) has created the Shamrock Challenge.
“We plan to hide 100 shamrocks throughout the community and invite people to go out and find them,” said WSEC volunteer and event coordinator Larry McIntyre. “We will have gifts and prizes for the top 3 finishers, and everyone who participates will be entered into a raffle to win gift certificates to local restaurants.”
SHAMROCK CHALLENGE DETAILS:
- 100 shamrocks will be placed throughout the community in public spaces and in the windows of participating businesses and public buildings
- Each shamrock will be numbered - participants will use their shamrock challenge worksheet to write in the location that corresponds with each numbered shamrock
- 96 of the shamrocks will be worth 1 point each, however, there will be four 4-leaf clovers worth 10 points each, and one leprechaun worth 14 points -- a total of 150 points can be earned in the contest
- Whichever team has the highest score wins; ties will be determined by which team turns in their answers first
- All shamrocks will be in place from Monday, March 8 and through Sunday, March 14; all submissions must be received by end of day March 14.
- Sign up online - more details will be sent to participants prior to the start of the challenge.
