Westmont, Illinois - Date Issued: February 12, 2021
The Westmont Fire Department has begun open registration for the 2021 Spring Citizens Fire Academy (CFA). The virtual CFA will be held on Thursday evenings from 6 to 7 p.m. for five weeks starting April 1 and continuing through April 29. Participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the program.
“Last year, we had our first virtual Citizens Fire Academy and it went really well,” said Westmont Fire Inspector Neil Berkowitz who helps coordinate and host the program. “We’re glad that we can continue this fun and educational program during the pandemic.”
The CFA program is designed to help citizens better understand the multitude of services provided by the Fire Department including its firefighting and rescue operations. The five-week course is not designed to train future firefighters, but to educate residents who are interested in gaining an insider view of the lives of professional firefighters and Emergency Medical Services personnel.
