On December 28, 2020, approximately 12:30 p.m., there was a partial collapse of a new construction located at the southwest corner of Cass Avenue and Quincy Street. The partial collapse was on the south side of the construction site. Westmont Fire and Police Department immediately responded to the call.
There were two injuries to individuals who were working at the site. The injuries were critical, but non-life threatening. Both individuals were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove for treatment.
Vehicle traffic on Cass Avenue between Quincy Street and Richmond Street has been shut down in both directions for the foreseeable future. The railroad crossing is open and has not been affected.
The incident will be under investigation. As this incident involves a new construction, OSHA will be part of the investigative review. There is no further information available at this time.
