Westmont, Illinois - Date Issued: November 24, 2020
“Right now, it’s more important than ever before to support our Westmont businesses,” said Mayor Ron Gunter. “With COVID-19 cases surging and the State beginning the Tier 3 Resurgence Mitigation Plan, we need to do all we can to SHOP WESTMONT! To address this important concern, we’ve created the Shop and Dine Westmont Community Challenge.”
Mayor Gunter invites every resident of Westmont to be part of the Shop and Dine Westmont Community Challenge. Here are the details:
- Visit and make a purchase at two or more Westmont businesses, with an emphasis on our restaurants, every week for 6 consecutive weeks between Tuesday, November 24 and the end of 2020
- Take a selfie with the business and send to communications@westmont.il.gov
- We will post the selfies on Village of Westmont social media to promote your community support and the business being patronized
- All submissions will be entered into a raffle which will be co-sponsored by the Westmont Chamber of Commerce and Westmont Special Events
“My family orders carry-out at least once a week,” added Mayor Gunter, “so there is no way I will be able to visit all of Westmont’s great restaurants. So I challenge my fellow Westmont Village Board members and Village Department Heads to join me in supporting our Westmont businesses. Since we’ve announced the countdown to our 100th Anniversary, I want to see if we can make at least 100 purchases at Westmont businesses and restaurants during the promotion.”
Mayor Gunter continued, “Please make a conscious effort to use Westmont businesses and dine with Westmont restaurants. Your patronage may make the difference in the success of a local business during this challenging time.” For more information regarding the Shop and Dine Westmont Community Challenge, please email lmcintyre@westmont.il.gov.
