Westmont, Illinois - Date Issued: November 20, 2020
At their November 19, 2020 meeting, the Westmont Village Board approved an Economic Assistance Program designed to help local businesses. The program was created to further assist businesses struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Details of the program include the following:
2020 BUSINESS LICENSE REFUND
All businesses opened by March 1, 2020 will receive a refund of the full amount they paid for their 2020 Westmont Business License. Refund checks are expected to be delivered in December 2020.
2020 LIQUOR LICENSE 50% REFUND
All businesses with a class 2, 3, 4, 8, or 14 liquor license will receive a 50% refund of the amount they paid for their 2020 Liquor License. The license classifications are generally businesses where the primary business is that of a restaurant or bar. Refund checks are expected to be delivered in December 2020.
PLACES FOR EATING TAX UPDATE
All businesses that pay the Places for Eating Tax (PFET), and are in good standing with the Village, will receive a refund of up to $1,000, however, this payment will not be in excess of 50% of the PFET paid by that business in Fiscal Year 2020 (May 2019 - April 2020). Businesses should expect to receive payments, or notification that they are not in good standing, by early 2021.
Earlier in the year, the Village created an Outdoor Seating Grant and a Retail Business Grant, which awarded $25,000 to local businesses. This new program repurposed unused funds from the previous grant programs as well as added additional money that was also budgeted for economic assistance.
