Village of Westmont
Date Issued: June 12, 2013
Starting Wednesday, June 12, representatives from FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) will begin visiting residences throughout the community. This effort will continue through the end of this week and then possibly extend for a longer timeframe. FEMA reps are in the field Tuesdays through Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. FEMA will not be making visits on Sundays and Mondays. FEMA information fliers will be dropped off at residences where no one is home.
The goal is to provide information regarding disaster relief assistance as well as assist with filing claims, which FEMA reps will do on location. Claims should include information regarding flood damage that occurred between April 16 and May 5, 2013. FEMA reps will also be able to check on the status of claims already filed.
The deadline for filing a disaster relief application is July 9, 2013, 5 p.m.
The FEMA reps will wear a blue FEMA uniform and will have identification on them.
The FEMA reps will not do inspections and therefore will not go into any homes for any reason whatsoever. FEMA reps will not have any cash or checks on their person.
