The DuPage County Board recently voted to enter into intergovernmental agreements (IGA) with several recipients of this year’s DuPage County Stormwater Management’s Water Quality Improvement Program grant. In total, the Board and Stormwater Committee have entered six IGAs for projects that aim to improve the quality of DuPage’s streams and rivers.
In its 21st year, the Water Quality Improvement Program grant awards up to 25 percent of the funding needed for projects exhibiting a regional water quality benefit. The Oakwood Homeowners’ Association, located within the Village of Westmont, was awarded a grant for a shoreline stabilization project.
“We are pleased that our grant request was awarded for this project,” said Westmont Trustee Steve Nero, who serves on the DuPage Stormwater Committee. “This is a unique example in which a non-governmental body applied for and received funds for a stormwater project and will serve as a model for other Homeowner Associations and similar groups to participate in the process of improving stormwater maintenance in DuPage.”
