Westmont, Illinois
Date Issued: May 22, 2020
“As the State moves towards Phase III of the Governor’s Restore Illinois initiative, Westmont has been working with our businesses to develop our local plan for our community,” said Westmont Mayor Ron Gunter. “We’ve engaged staff to work quickly to assist our businesses. Once we hit Phase III, which may be on May 29th if all criteria is met, many of our businesses will be ready to expand their offerings to their customers.” Per State guidelines, some of the businesses that will be allowed to open in Phase III will include barber shops, salons, retail shops, offices and manufacturing operations.
Many of Westmont’s restaurants and bars have only had curbside and carry out orders for the past several months. Once our region moves to Phase III, many of these businesses will be able to take advantage of creating outdoor seating areas for their patrons. These special, temporary outdoor seating plans are intended to help ensure social distancing between people while allowing them to visit their favorite dining locations.
“It’s important for everyone to understand that we are paying close attention to and following the State guidelines,” added Mayor Gunter. “The response to COVID-19 has been a very fluid situation and we need to ask for everyone’s patience as we do our best to assist our businesses while keeping the public safe.”
Once completed, the local Phase III plan will be published on choosewestmont.com, which will be the primary website for Westmont’s economic development response to COVID-19.
