[ARCHIVED] Westmont Public Library Expands Virtual Library Experience

Library
Westmont, Illinois
Date Issued: April 23, 2020

With the various challenges facing public agencies and taxing bodies during the response to COVID-19, the Westmont Public Library (WPL) has been exploring new and innovative ways to reach out to and serve the community. Their staff are hard at work to bring new virtual services to Westmont residents.

WPL WEBSITE - UPDATED AND EXPANDED
The WPL has reorganized and updated its website to better serve citizens, especially during the current shelter-in-place mandate.  Visit www.westmontlibrary.org to check it out.

DIGITAL LIBRARY CARDS
It’s now easier than ever to access the Library’s online collection. Simply visit westmontlibrary.org/library-cards to register for a digital library card and instantly access free ebooks, music, movies, databases, and more all from the comfort of your home. The Library’s Digital Branch provides access to their online resources and is open 24/7.

HOME ACTIVITIES FOR ALL AGES
The WPL has created online programming and collected activities for all ages—all of which are accessible from the Library’s website. Check out the links for Early Childhood, Grade School Students, Teens, and Adults.

STORYTIME ON WPL YOUTUBE CHANNEL
Join WPL Early Childhood Specialist Ms. Adrian as she shares short videos of rhymes, fingerplays, and flannel board stories for little ones at home on the Library’s YouTube channel at bit.ly/msadrian. Check back often for new videos from Ms. Adrian.

WPL ONLINE TRIVIA
WPL will be launching their first online trivia program on April 27 at 7pm. Check it out and test your trivia knowledge. To register, and for all the participation details, email Alex in Adult Services at acarlson@westmontlibrary.org.

For more information regarding WPL services and programs, visit their website at westmontlibrary.org or email WPL at maindesk@westmontlibrary.org. WPL also has an online “ask a librarian” chat feature via their website. Stay tuned for more virtual programs from WPL staff in the coming weeks.
