[ARCHIVED] Westmont Census Challenge Encourages Community to get Involved with Census Promotion

Westmont, Illinois
Date Issued: March 31, 2020

This Wednesday, April 1, is the official Census Day.  The Village of Westmont encourages everyone to get counted so that Westmont receives its fair share of State and Federal tax dollars that help fund our emergency services, community infrastructure, public education, and more.

“The easiest way to get counted is online,” said Mayor Ron Gunter.  “Whether it be online, by phone, or by mail, we ask everyone to complete their census form today.  A few minutes of your time today will help Westmont for the next 10 years.”

WESTMONT CENSUS CHALLENGE
To add a little fun to taking the 2020 Census, the Village of Westmont has created the Westmont Census Challenge.  Just complete the following steps:
  • Make a sign or poster that celebrates the fact that you’ve completed the Census - maybe something like “We count for Westmont!”
  • Take a picture or selfie of you holding your Census poster - include family or pets in the picture, be creative
  • Post the picture on social media, announce that you’ve completed the Westmont Census Challenge, and then tag 3 friends and neighbors who live in Westmont and challenge them to follow your lead and complete their Census and ask them to invite 3 more people to do the same
  • You can also email your pictures to communications@westmont.il.gov and your photo may be chosen for our 2020 Census publicity campaign
If you want to use the poster we have created, click here: CENSUS2020 - I COUNT POSTER

CENSUS BY MAIL OR PHONE
Census questionnaires can also be sent in via mail, or by phone.  To respond by phone or to request a paper questionnaire, please call 844-330-2020 between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

“I want to thank our community volunteers on the Census 2020 Complete Count Committee,” said Trustee Bruce Barker.  “They’ve done a great job helping us promote the census and the importance of being counted.  We hope the entire community gets involved in the Westmont Census Challenge.”
